Symposium Artifacts, Models, and Materiality

_Fictions_ – Merja Polvinen has been working on literary fiction and
4E cognition, and she recently published the book _Self-Reflective
Fiction and 4E Cognition: An Enactive Approach to Literary Artifice_. In
this section Tarja Knuuttila and Guillherme Sanchez de Oliveira will
comment on (parts of) Merja’s book.

_Metaphor_ – Adam Toon’s new book is titled _Mind as Metaphor: A
Defense of Mental Fictionalism. _Adam will present some ideas from the
book. Then Natalia Carrillo will present co-authored work with Sergio
Martínez on the concept of material metaphor from their paper
_Scientific Inquiry: From Metaphors to Abstraction_.

_Cognition_ – Markus Peschl will make a presentation on his recent
work on innovation and materiality. Then Sergio Martínez will present
ideas around a manuscript titled _Enactive metaphors_. Finally, Raphael
Aybar and Moritz Kriegleder will present some views related to their
doctoral work on cognition.

_Realism_ – Oscar Westerblad will present ideas on how Massimi’s
Perspectival Realism or Chang’s Realism relate to artifactual
perspectives. Gui Sanchez de Oliveira will discuss a paper under review
in which he relates Angela Potochnik's causal pattern realism in science
(adding an artifactual twist to it) and Gibson's perceptual realism in
psychology. Finally, in this section Jesús Zamora Bonilla will comment
on Chang’s deflationism.
