I am interested in computational methods for the modeling of intellectual structures and developments. Over the last two years, I have been trying to create computational methods for large-scale analyses useful for philosophy of science, following the intuition that conclusions drawn from small numbers of examples from the history of science might be somewhat problematic. Within the ERC-project, I will work on a mapping of the BioRxiv, a large preprint-server that contains a lot of the works that have recently been published in the life sciences. We will use this mapping to trace the distribution and dissemination of specific types of models or computational templates, and investigate how they provide alternative ways of structuring the discipline.
